El triunfo español sobre México-Tenochtitlán estuvo condicionado por una serie de factores históricos; entre los más significativos está, sin duda, la alianza de los pueblos de la región tlaxcalteca que, sojuzgados por la hegemonía mexica, buscaron en los conquistadores el apoyo para la lucha por su autonomía.
