Esta obra fue dedicada por Alberti a Brunelleschi. En ella se evidencia el espíritu netamente renacentista del autor, pues la variedad de sus preocupaciones intelectuales (matemáticas, filosofía literatura, arquitectura...) se manifiestan en este clásico tratado de arte. En él expresó un nuevo ideal artístico que se difundió rápidamente por Europa.

Es a la mitad de este trabajo donde hago recuerdo de dos h roes culturales fruto del tr pico: Buda universal, Quetzalco tl de nuestra Am rica. Los dos poemas son una sola imagen con diferentes luces: juventud y madurez.
