Esta obra recupera las narrativas de vida de ocho mujeres cubanas cuyos relatos oscilan entre la cotidianeidad y su participación en el proceso revolucionario, en un ejercicio de memoria colectiva que, sin proponérselo, abarca casi todo el siglo XX y acaba en la actualidad. Las protagonistas pertenecen a varias generaciones, nacidas durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, de diferentes orígenes sociales y raciales, con trayectorias y experiencias particulares muy diferentes entre sí. Sus historias permiten reconstruir una parte muy importante de la memoria social y cultural de Cuba y quizá también de las mujeres latinoamericanas en general.
