Resumen del Libro
An historic account of the caricatures published in the last 128 years in the newspapers "El Tiempo" and "EL Espectador", the weekly magazine "Semana" (from the available digitalized material of older editions in custody of the Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango) and other compilations and caricature books of Colombia that dealt with economic matters. Includes many examples by noted caricaturists Chapete (Hernando Turriago), Sir David Alexander Cecil Low, Vladdo, Antonio Caballero and Pepón (José Ma. López Prieto), with a compilation of one or two examples by artists Ricardo Rendón, Adolfo Samper, Jorge Enrique Grosso, Hernán Merino Puerta, Palosa (Alvaro Palomino Sandoval), Claudia Rueda, Gomar (Enrique Gómez Campusano), and Mico (Carlos Mario Gallego) along some others as the most important representatives of the economic caricature in Colombia in the 20th century. Economist Villaveces describes the selected cartoons (364 out of 1,720) in her book are those caricatures that "represent economy as a discipline and the economists; well being and quality of life; employment; housing; macroeconomics management; rural sector: agriculture, coffee and land; United States and Colombia's economy; the DANE (Administrative National Department of Statistics) and other recurrent topics that affect the local economy such as violence, foreign debt and the International Monetary Fund" --PP. 18-19.
