This collective book is the outcome of the discussion between historians and anthropologists from different professional backgrounds and affiliations. Its nine chapters reveal the larger paradox faced by these Mexicanist anthropologists and historians who propose research with an interdisciplinary vocation: as studies looking for a common ground of anthropology and historiography are more developed, the distance between anthropologists and historians as a professional discipline becomes larger. This book is a commitment to an interdisciplinary dialogue and an invitation to a theoretical-methodological reflection involving historians and anthropologists alike.
