Este libro analiza y evalúa los desarrollos teóricos más recientes del realismo en Relaciones Internacionales. Tras reconstruir racionalmente sus últimos avances teóricos, recurriendo a la Metodología de los Programas de Investigación Científica de I. Lakatos, la autora reflexiona sobre el modo en que el realismo de nuestros días responde a hechos y dinámicas que revelan un sistema internacional en continua transformación. El análisis realizado muestra que el progreso teórico característico del realismo actual no ha impedido, sin embargo, su estancamiento en el terreno empírico.
