Cielo y tierra

En la década de los treinta del siglo XX, el fotoperiodismo alcanzó su esplendor. La actividad en años anteriores, debido al desarrollo de la prensa ilustrada, propició la toma de conciencia de un colectivo tradicionalmente desunido y acostumbrado a trabajar en solitario. Aunque se ha escrito que la fotografía de reportaje no consiguió su elemento definidor hasta la guerra civil, lo cierto es que años antes, sobre todo tras proclamarse la Segunda República, la información gráfica ya era imprescindible en la prensa periódica.

This is an anthropological essay that studies social dynamics of Mexicos city from the perspective of its inhabitants. An analysis about the relationship of their everyday life with the history of the city is made from questionnaires and the exhibitions of images to a group of people- taxi drivers, traffic cops, deliverymen of goods, students, housewives, street sellers and middle class motorists.
